Don't Panic

One place we can all go out to eat that the kids enjoy is our local Chinese food buffet (the boys get corn dogs, but, whatever).  We have all noticed how silly the fortune-cookie fortunes have become.  We have had "Be a couch potato this weekend" and "Go play golf with your friends".  Confucius just isn't trying as hard anymore.

Recently I got "Don't panic".  That's all.  Just two words (well, 2 2/3 maybe?).  "Don't panic".  We laughed, I tucked it away in my wallet, as I often do, and forgot about it.  A few weeks later I found it again and gave it some more thought.  What a perfect thing to put in a fortune cookie.  Applicable to almost every situation:

*We are out of ground beef for dinner - don't panic - we can have something else, get more or order pizza.
*Kid gets hurt - don't panic - apply first aid, kisses and ice as needed.
*Discover you crossed a complicated cable the wrong way 10 rows back - don't panic - throw it across the room, cuss, cry, have a beer, rip out and reknit.
