Ever since I considered blogging, I've been trying to capture the beauty and warmth in yarn and knitted pieces. It was extremely frustrating. All my pictures were crap. The color was off, or too blurry, too dark, too light. I was just a crappy photographer.
But wait....
I got a new camera for Christmas. Don't ask the specs because, honestly, I don't know. I just know it is much better than my current one. It's still a hobbyist point-and-shoot Coolpix but, wow, the difference. You can see the stitches clearly enough to tell a ssk from a k2tog. I want to go back and re-shoot all my Ravelry project and stash photos. I am enjoying taking pictures. I find myself looking for photo ops I would have ignored before. I'm still not a great photographer, but I'm much happier with my results and that's what counts.
So my goal for the new year...remind myself that I am worth the splurge. I can still be thoughtful and thrifty in my purchases without settling for second best.
Happy New Year!
I bought a new camera earlier this year and had the same experience. Your photos look great. I just bought myself a lighting box with the proper lighting and that also makes a huge difference. The right tools do make a difference!
